I started by creating in art journals and am fascinated by the practice and process of keeping journals and sketchbooks. To see mine, check out my sketchbook/art journal blog series. For more on my thoughts about art, process, and the internet, check out my interview with Denise of My Internet Girl Crushes.
Feminism, gender equality, and social justice are incredibly important to me. Which is why, with my wonderful friend Taylor, I created Reclaim the Rhetoric, a feminist art project aimed at examining and changing the way we use gendered language. Each week, Taylor and I explore a different word and how it is used to describe women through handlettering, illustration, and writing. You can see the words we've tackled, read about our thoughts, and find out how you can participate on our website or on Instagram.
You can shop my work - both originals, prints, and other products, on Etsy. You can get my work printed on lots of products, like phone cases, pillows, tote bags, shower curtains, and more in my Society6 shop. If you see any work on my social media or in my portfolio that you would like on a product, let me know and I'll be happy to see what I can do for you.
Hi there! I'm Haley!
I am an artist and illustrator, but you probably already knew that. I was always creative, but I fell head over heels for visual art when I started using sketchbooks and art journals as a creative outlet while I studied history and communication in college.
These days, I love working with bright colors, piecing together scraps of paper, and painting with watercolor. I am incredibly inspired by women in history, gemstones, lingerie, interior design, layers, plants, and anything pink.
I grew up in Massachusetts, went to college in Washington, D.C. and am back in my home state after some traveling. Besides making art, I love trips to the library, collecting enamel pins (I even made some of my own), listening to podcasts, and wearing pajamas all day. I am a homebody who loves to travel and I'm obsessed with French bulldogs, but I don't own one (yet).
With two other friends, I co-host Hot Chicks with Superpowers, a podcast about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We take the show episode-by-episode and talk about about feminism, 90s fashion, and whatever interests us. We'd love for you to check it out, whether you're new to the show or a longtime fan. I had a great time designing our logo.
